I recently had a conversation with Meta’s AI about this very issue. What began as a curiosity became a stunning exposé of how social media algorithms reward insincerity and undermine godly values. Here’s how it unfolded—and how it applies to network marketing today.

The Conversation: Exposing the Algorithm of Insincerity

When I asked the AI about Facebook’s algorithms, it revealed an uncomfortable truth: its design prioritizes engagement above all else. The more controversial or attention-grabbing the content, the better it performs. Authenticity takes a back seat.

Pressed further, the AI admitted that behaviors like insincere likes, comments, and flattery are often rewarded because they boost engagement metrics. This creates a culture of dishonesty, where gaining influence trumps building trust.

Yet the Bible warns us about such tactics. **”Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.” – Ephesians 5:6** Flattery, manipulation, and deceit may yield short-term success, but they destroy relationships and erode trust—the very foundation of any business.

Flattery in Network Marketing: A Common Trap

Many network marketers are taught to “love-bomb” prospects, using insincere compliments to win them over. Scripts like “I love your profile!” or “You’d be amazing at this!” abound, even when the sender barely knows the recipient.

This tactic plays directly into Facebook’s algorithm, boosting engagement but sabotaging authenticity.

The AI conversation underscored the futility of chasing algorithms or relying on manipulation. But it also reaffirmed the power of a biblical, principle-based approach to network marketing.

Rather than gaming the system, we can rely on these truths:

1. Build with Integrity: “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” – Colossians 3:23
Don’t cut corners or resort to deceit. Focus on providing real value and building trust.

2. Value Wisdom Over Tricks: “The wisdom of the prudent is to discern his way, but the folly of fools is deceiving.” – Proverbs 14:8
Shortcuts and “hacks” may seem appealing, but they rarely lead to long-term success.

3. **Trust in God’s Provision: Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” – Matthew 6:33**
Success comes from obedience to God, not from gaming an algorithm.
