WHAT IS… PART II
YOUR ROADMAP?
Does it provide identifiable landmarks along the way to the stated destination? Or do you just have your new recruits start driving in a general direction?
“If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading.”
– Lao Tzu
The main problem I have encountered in talking to people about pursuing a network marketing business is that they can’t relate to how someone can go from making nothing in MLM to over $100,000 a year and what that looks like.
There is a disconnect…
Between their current reality and a fuzzy uncertain potential. This has to do primarily with a person’s ability to visualize something they have not yet experienced. This has nothing to do with want or desire because many people desperately want to be successful in network marketing who fail miserably even in companies that manage to stay in business.
It would be advisable if you could show them something other than pictures of sports cars, yachts, and mansions. Most people don’t even want those things initially. They want less Financial stress and less work-related stress which translates into less personal stress.
A LIVING BREATHING GPS INSTRUMENT
You will want to take them on the journey from where they are to where they want to be. That’s why I created a road map to give people certain reference points along the way. It’s like if you were going to drive a car from New York to San Francisco. They need to know what they’re going to encounter along the way and what they ‘re going to need to do beforehand so they don’t give up and turn back when they face challenges.
In this metaphor the place where they live- New York is financial lack and career stagnation.
San Francisco represents purpose fulfillment and financial Independence, but you can’t tell someone what San Francisco feels like by simply showing them a picture of San Francisco.
This is a relatively short post because that’s pretty much it. Have you developed a roadmap for your journey in network marketing to get you from where you are to where you want to be?
As an experienced traveler myself I have a distinct advantage to paint a vivid picture of what that journey is like even though I took too many detours and got distracted when I started over 29 years ago.
Part III in this series discusses why the strategy you use is critical for long term success.
Anyone making promises that you will succeed in this business, should raise an automatic red flag but…
I can promise someone that if they give me 4 hours a week they will learn my system.
From there, it’s not that difficult [to build a profitable business], because I have eliminated the things that cause people to quit in this industry.
If there was a business designed like a MacDonald’s franchise, without the high price-tag, that would also reward you a passive income, could you see yourself as an entrepreneur? The secret is in the system (not individual personalities).
