This is another HUGE myth about network marketing:
That it is purely a numbers game.
“If you talk to enough people, you will sponsor enough people, and they will sponsor enough people if they talk to enough people…“
NOPE!
The circular reasoning in a statement like this is as endless as the high failure rate in this industry.
That is a fallacy. I can tell you this not only from my own experience, because I spoke to a lot of people for a long time. I didn’t get the right ones. I probably spoke to them in the wrong way as well but that’s part of the learning process for which I’m grateful.
Two people can take the same number of leads:
Contact, invite, expose, follow up, sponsor, train, and lead them and get completely different results. One can be successful and the other one can be a failure.
Why?
Is it just dumb luck?
Very rarely it is, but in most cases it has to do again with many issues that I address elsewhere on this site.
What I want to focus on for the purpose of this post is about developing the skills that many refuse to acquire to become successful. Learning how to speak to people, learning how to read people, learning how to lead people, learning how to train people, and learning how to help people in the way in which they need to be helped all go into the equation.
I recently spoke to a person who told me that they have been through almost 4,000 business opportunity leads, ranging in cost from $0.15 to $2.50 apiece and they had zero success!
0 signups, but a lot of people who told him that they “were interested”.
Why didn’t they join?I don’t think it was the person. He’s a very nice and engaging person. He has no idea why either. When I began thinking about it, I believe that he spends way too much time on the wrong people trying to make them care about something he cares so much about. His particular health and nutrition drink which quite frankly isn’t all that spectacular… That used to work when there were 5 nutritional MLMs, but not enough people care about a overpriced energy drink enough now to make very many people wealthy in nutritional MLMs anymore. I should know.
The limited number of hours in your day are the most precious commodity that you have. It’s the only thing that is irreplaceable. Once a minute is gone… it’s gone forever. Learn how to prospect in an efficient manner, using an efficient system, with a compelling story that gets people’s attention and you’ll have more people to follow up with, lead, and train than you know what to do with.

If you want to make money in this industry, some serious money, you’re going to have to make some changes in your life and not be afraid of what other people think about you as a person. The most important person you have to please and be satisfied with is yourself. After that you can start worrying about what other people think of you as long as you’re not unethical.
Anyone making promises that you will succeed in this business, should raise an automatic red flag but…
I can promise someone that if they give me 4 hours a week they will learn my system.
From there, it’s not that difficult [to build a profitable business], because I have eliminated the things that cause people to quit in this industry.
If there was a business designed like a MacDonald’s franchise, without the high price-tag, that would also reward you a passive income, could you see yourself as an entrepreneur? The secret is in the system (not individual personalities).
